Learning to be content

I found that quote on We Heart It and i sat and thought about it for a bit (there's me thinking too much again, lol) and how right it was, its simple really. Yet i so often do the opposite, i try to impress people, who dont even like me, the kind of people who dont give me a happy relaxed feeling when I'm with them but i wanna impress them and maybe hang around with them because they might be more popular or talented. Which is stupid really, cus ive got a whole bunch of amazing people who are my friends, and they're all awesome and talented and cool in their own way.

The quote also made me think about God, i dont have to impress him, he already loves me and thinks im wonderful, even if myself or anyone else thinks that I'm not, he does! I havent got to try and act different or try and be something im not or try to be cooler or funnier, i havent got to do anything to impress him. He says we need to just come as we are and he'll accept us with wide open arms full of love!

Spending time with God and 'hanging' around with him does make me happy. Cus he gives me joy and peace and hope and love and courage and everything else i need. I dont need anything or anyone else when ive got him. I think God's teaching me to just be content no matter what. No matter what ive got or haven't got, no matter what wall i may be walking towards, no matter how i feel, i just need to be content and now the scripture comes to mind...

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." Philippians 4:11
