Guest Poster: Sierra

Hey guys! I'm really happy to be here. Saff asked me to do a quest post and so here I am! I hope you enjoy and if you like my post, go and check out my blog, Keep Growing Beautiful. And if you have only been visiting Saff, make sure you follow because she is such a sweet girl! Thanks for having me Saff!
So I just wanted to share, first a verse that I am learning this week.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26

Isn't that just a great verse???? And I also wanted to share a song that has really been inspiring me. It's by a great singer named Kari Jobe and the song is called We Are.

Every secret, every shame
Every fear, every pain
Live inside the dark
But that's not who we are
We are children of the day
So wake up sleeper, lift your head
We were meant for more than this
Fight the shadows, conquer death
Make the most of the time we have left

We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta, we gotta, we gotta
Let the light shine

We are called to spread the news
To tell the world the simple truth
Jesus came to save
There's freedome in His name
So let His love break through

We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
And we gotta, we gotta, we gotta
Let the light shine

Now...I love pictures a ton. So I hope you don't suffer through my addiction :P

Anybody?

Hey, I've had a lot to do lately..

Studying,

reading,

thinking,

praying,

walking,

practising piano,

drinking cups of tea,

making hard decisions

...and lots of other stuff which I think is best if I leave the rest out or I'll be going on forever.

I'm even to busy to be doing this blog post now, because what I should be doing right now, is sleeping. I haven't managed to do that very well these past few weeks, and believe me. With all the stuff I've been doing I need my sleep!

So, anybody? does anybody want to do a guest post on here for me quite soon? Please. It can be about anything, I don't mind who does it, I don't even mind if more than one of you lovely people want to do one for me, because you know what? That's even better!

Just let me know if you can by either commenting below or emailing me at: agapesofia@ymail.com

I guess I should sleep now, my eyes are heavy.

You are beautiful (pass it on)

If you don't mind. (Guest blog by Chloe)

Hey, I'm Chloe from the blog http://chloesbiglife.blogspot.com/. And my amazing best friend saff asked me to blog for her so here i am.:)
~
Any who... "I can do all things through christ who gives me strength" (Phil 1:13)
I'm guessing everyone who knows me knows i love that! If i could i would say it everyday. But people would look at me funny.:p
~
Everyday is gonna be amazing and outgoing every second. I mean its just how god made it always awesome and beautiful everyday that goes by.

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
~
I sing this every week at church and i just love it! I hope we sing it tomrrow!!
~
Well i'll talk to y'all later.:)
And please come by the blog and tell me what you think of it.:)

Know your Definition: Christian (Be proud!!)*********

Hey y'all!
Ok so i didnt write this myself! I read this here and i thought it was really good! happy reading :)

If someone asked you, “Are you a Christian?”, what would you say? Probably “Yes.” But what if they asked, “Why?”

That’s where a lot of us have problems. I could be stumped if someone asked me that and tempted to say something like, “Well, my parents raised me as a Christian” or even, “Because I believe in God.” But lots of people believe in God, and what if my parents had raised me wrong? No, that is not the reason I am a Christian. When it really comes down to it, what would I say? What wouldyou say?

The True Definition of a Christian. The reason you are a Christian is not because you do good things like go to church or read the Bible. It is not because you were raised in a “Christian” home or nation. It’s not even because you believe in the concept of God. It is because you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the King that will reign for eternity. Your faith in Jesus is what makes you a Christian—pure and simple.

The Proof. Look at this contrast of two men as proof. Jesus was hanging on the cross between two criminals. Can you picture them? Neither of these men were “good” people, but they had very different attitudes toward Jesus. The one made fun of Jesus, saying, “Aren’t you supposed to be the Messiah? Prove it!” But the other one was deeply humble and replied, “We deserve to die; this man doesn’t.” Then he turned and said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Luke 23:42). That’s the clincher: He truly believed that Jesus was the Son of God. And Jesus’ response is the proof that salvation is by faith alone: “I assure you, today you will be with Me in paradise’" (Luke 23:43).

Let It Sink In. Your salvation—eternal life when you die and the complete forgiveness of your sins—is not a matter of good deeds, family heritage, or general belief in God. It is founded on your belief that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He will come back to bring you into His great kingdom. Let this simple fact be the answer to those who ask you why you are a Christian and give you great peace.

how do my hobbies glorify God? {guest post by Mary}

Hobbies. Everybody has them. I definitely do. I love to bake, sing, cook, write, make crafts and do all the other things teenage girls enjoy doing. I do a lot of these things for my own entertainment- because I like doing them. But the other day I was pondering over the things I do, why I do them, and how they affect my life. Am I glorifying God in everything I do? Or just doing them for my own benefit and pleasure? 1 Corinthians 10:31 says---"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."I like to bake sweets, and I bake more often the not, and 99% of the time I personally enjoy and consume a majority of the finished product afterwards. But as of there, my hobby is entertaining my own personal benefits. But how much of all that glorified God? Obviously, sweets aren't good for you, and though I don't personally think its a sin to eat them. I don't think it's good to eat them a lot, or until you get sick. The Bible even mentions being gluttonous is a sin, and one of the fruits of the spirit is self control, you certainly aren't practicing self control by stuffing yourself right? So back to the subject, how do I get to enjoy baking often, but keep self control and glorify God as well? I found one answer the other day when I was baking a batch of cookies. Instead of keeping them for myself, I gave them to some friends who were in the process of moving into a new house. I still had the pleasure of making them, and I got even more pleasure in seeing how much the family enjoyed them. (Plus the fact I didn't feel guilty and fat after too many chocolate chip cookies...everybody knows I love those. *grins*) God wants us to be kind and generous, giving and loving, and sharing what we have with others. And when we do those things, God never fails to reward us. It's a good feeling, isn't it?I also enjoy write and draw, and the other day I was sitting at my desk wanting something to doodle, so I looked around my room trying to think of something. I don't know how it came about, but before long, I was writing my favorite verses and inspirational quotes on a piece of paper- including my favorite verse from 1 Thessalonians 5:17 "Pray without ceasing" I ended up putting that paper on my board above my computer, just so I could see it a lot. I love 1 Thes. 5:17, maybe because it is a good reminder for me to pray, not just once in a while. But all the time! Having it on my wall is good for me, it motivates me everyday and inspires me to pray more...a lot more then a random little picture and a rhyme I might have wrote and drew if that scripture hadn't come to mind.
I could give you many little illustrations of ways to glorify God in your everyday things, but it really isn't hard to find ways to do so on your own. We all want what we do to be pleasing to God, do we not? This week I encourage you to do the same and do your best and find a way you can be pleasing to God in your everyday practices and hobbies.

the sweetest indulgence {guest post by Mary}

I'm so honored that my lovely friend, Saff, put me in charge of her blog while she's away, although I must say that I'm missing her terribly...aren't you all? She is such a dear! Oh, I guess I'd better introduce myself, by the way. I'm Miss Mary {Sue Sue} from the blog Sue Sue's Stories, and I am very excited to be guest posting here at Saff's Sanctuary!
Anyways...onto the subject. Miss Saff gave me a few topics to write on and share with you all...one in particular that caught my attention the most...that is, something that when many people think of---they think of me. It is a small morsel, rich in flavor, creamy in texture and dark in color...also known as the chocolate chip, and the biggest sin in my life. I often try to avoid them, but they lure me in like no other earthly thing. I eat them in ice cream, in cookies, in brownies, in cake, by handfuls. Every time a bag of chocolate chips appear in the pantry of my home, they somehow mysteriously disappear the next day. Strange isn't it? Well not if Mary is around. Many people claim I'm even addicted to them. Me? Addicted? Anyways I am going to share with you my most favorite recipe involving chocolate chips, and also, a very popular treat around the world:: The chocolate chip cookie.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • 10 ounce(s) chocolate chips
  • 2 1/4 cup(s) unsifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup(s) (2 sticks) butter
  • 3/4 cup(s) sugar
  • 3/4 cup(s) packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Stir flour with baking soda and salt; set aside. In large mixer bowl, cream butter with sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Gradually blend dry mixture into creamed mixture. Stir chips. Drop 1 tablespoon of dough per cookie onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375ºF for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
Enjoy!

I ate two today already. Shhhh...that's a secret between me and you.:)

The Way I Dress {Guest Post by: Miss Raquel}

‘I would love for you to post about the way you dress and why you dress the way you do and the type of clothes you wear to cover your skin…’

That was what Saff requested me to guest post on.  Haha A little daunting!  Well, maybe not daunting, but…it’s a lot to sit down and write.  I mean, I could seriously write a book about modesty!  AND…Saff wanted me to write this in just a couple days!?  Yikes!

So, I decided to break down her request into three categories.  Here is Number 1.

The Way I Dress:
Well, to put it simply, I dress modestly.  I dress according to what I believe pleases God.  I dress in the innocence of wanting to help keep my brothers in Christ from stumbling.  I dress so that I don’t reveal what only needs to be revealed to my future husband.  And I dress for the glory of God.
(::sigh:: that was pretty easy!)

Why I Dress This Way:
Like I said above, I dress according to the way I believe God wants me to.  In His Word, He doesn’t say ‘dress this and this way’.  I wish!!  But no.  He does tell us – in Titus 2:5: ‘…to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored’.  In some translations, it uses the word ‘discreetly’, instead of ‘pure’.  Discreetly means: ‘inconspicuously’, ‘subtly’, ‘unnoticeably’, ‘unobtrusively’.  ‘Wait, I don’t want to be a rag doll dress in ugly non-fashionable clothes!’  Hold on one minute there!!  Discreetly also means ‘tastefully’.  (You sigh with relief.)  Of course God doesn’t want us to dress in rags and be unnoticed.  He wants us to delight in our femininity, and by dressing tastefully and modestly, we can look just as beautiful as any wordly girl out there can – but even more beautiful, because we are being modest.  We are holding our chin up and going against the flow of the culture that says to reveal our bodies in public.  We are standing for something and Someone greater.
So to answer this question in one sentence:  I dress to glorify God.

The Type of Clothes I Wear:
Ooh!  This is gonna be fun. :)  Well, like I said above, you don’t have to dress in unfashionable, unstylish clothes just to be modest.  You can use two pieces of clothing (that would otherwise be immodest) and turn it into a really cute, God-glorifying outfit!  Personally, I LOVE doing this!!  Just goes to show those immodest, secular clothes designers that they can’t make us dress ugly. ;)
Of course it all depends on your taste of clothing.  For some of you, you may really like turtle-necks.  I don’t. :P haha  Some of you may not like layering, others do.  I just suggest that you play around with the clothes that you have in your closet and dresser and come up with some different outfits.  I guarantee that you’ll come up with some really, really cute stuff!!

Thanks so much for having me, Saff! :)

Miss Raquel would love it if you dropped by her blog, God's Daughter, where she writes her faith, her life, her family, her photography and fun. :)
She strives to live up to the title of her blog and prays that she is a blessing to her readers.
She plays piano and violin, loves to sing, dance and work with horses. And enjoys watching movies with her family. :)
Be sure to sign her guestbook and let her know that you were
there!  She loves hearing from visitors.

Guest Poster:Sierra:You Are Beautiful

Hi you guys!
Saff asked me to do a guest post, my first ever!
So thanks for the experience Saff!
Yesterday I read an awesome article form LAT (Lilies Among Thorns) the article,

A New View On The Old Me~ By Emily Ciszewski

was about a girl who didn't think anyone liked her.Or that any guy could like her, that anyone noticed her.I know that we have all had one of those days.Where we criticize our feet, hair, face, skin, weight or something like that. I used to think my stomach was big, which it wasn't and that I had the worst hair on earth.I don't.I just have some thinker and sometimes frizzy hair. And I can find hairstyles that will work with it and make it look great. In the article the girl, Allyson, had a friend who told her that she was beautiful. And that just really gave her a boost.Well if you are feeling down today, here is your boost.

God made you just the way you are for a reason. It maybe something big or small but he loves you and when you see his plans you will be amazed. When you look back sometimes you may see that through a hard time God strengthened you gave you confidence or showed you love.Out there somewhere there is a guy that God has specially picked for you to marry and have a family with. He has planned your life out.Every tear that you shed he catches it and is with you.You are his Princess. You have a destiny. To tell people about His Great Love. And His Mercy. And to turn your cheek and be confident in Him.For nothing can hurt you.Death isn't something to be afraid of because he defeated it. So then why should you be afraid if someone says you are fat or ugly.It hurts but they are hurting more if they need to put you down to lift themselves up.Rise above them and give them a compliment.Maybe you can turn your enemies into friends if you show His Love. You are special and you are loved. No matter what the world says.No matter what everyone else says, God says you are BEAUTIFUL.

 Keep Growing Beautiful,

Sierra♥
